I found a short snippet from the Wharton School of Business. The article addresses Wharton’s 2010 Business Plan Competition. One of the teams in the article is called R2R Therapeutics. The motivation for the team was 2nd year Wharton MBA student Bee Rhee who almost lost his wife due to a bacterial infection that occurred after the removal of his wife’s wisdom teeth. His wife was given antibiotics and they were able to stop the infection and she is currently alive today. However this business plan from this team does highlight a growing concern in healthcare which has to do with bacterial which is becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics. Dental Practices of some Dentists Websites Online is Questionable

Lately I have been frustrated with a particular individual who calls himself “georgeshoemoney”. His email is georgeshoemoney@yahoo.com. He commonly registers on website forums (such as my own before I deleted his account and posts) and replies to posts and/or starts new posts with really weak content which might contain a sentence of poor English. He then has a link in the signature of his post which contains a link to a dentist website. He commonly links to  skyedental.com using the link ‘Dentist in Milpitas.’ On other websites I have also seen him link to dentistsorange.com using the link “Dentists in Orange.’ Now digging a little deeper I see that both of these sites contain a link to stratforce.com. Living with NDPH

On my website I discuss New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH) . I have also previously posted some NDPH chronic headache articles. Recently I found a website called Living with NDPH. The site is written by Amy, a mother of 3, who has suffered with a chronic persistent headache for 4 years, and has been blogging about it since last August. U.S. Dental Schools Teaching little on Sleep Disorders

American adults suffer from sleep disorders and the number is quite large, around 70 million. U.S. dental schools are not teaching their graduating soon to be dentists the importance of screening their patients for sleep disorders. A survey sent out by researchers from the University of California — Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry,  indicates that dental students spend an average of 2.9 instruction hours during their four years of dental school studying sleep disorders. The main problem is for those 18 million Americans that suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It estimated that 80 % to 90 % of patients with OSA are not diagnosed and this can consequently raise the patients risk for many diseases and problems. Western Dental injuries and pain

I found some interesting pieces from ABC 7 KGO-TV San Francisco, CA. The articles and videos are about the second largest HMO in the state of California called Western Dental. Numerous people are profiled talking about things such as nerve damage following wisdom teeth removal, people’s healthy teeth being pulled out and being replaced with dentures,  a syringe injecting bleech into a girl’s sinus during a root canal, and putting too much filler into the root of a woman’s teeth during a root canal and causing severe pain. Of course Western Dental defends by not admitting wrongdoing but then lawsuits result and a settlement is reached in some cases. In other cases Western Dental has not paid for subsequent follow up treatment.
