Wisdom Teeth Surgery Injury Leads to Ride on Rose Parade Float

The Tournament of Roses Parade or Rose Parade for short has been happening every year on New Year’s Day (or sometimes the day after New Year’s Day) since the late 1800s. The Rose Bowl college football game follows the Rose Parade with this year featuring the University of Washington Huskies versus The Ohio State University Buckeyes with Buckeye coach Urban Meyer coaching his final game before retirement. This year a young woman who suffered a nerve injury after having wisdom teeth removed was selected to ride on the 2019 Donate Life Rose Parade float ” Rhythm of the Heart.” The woman had four wisdom teeth removed while she was a sophomore in high school in 2016. Divorce and Dentistry: Repairing Broken Relationships

According to work by statistician Nathan Yau reported by Quartz who used divorce data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 5 year survey from 2015, dentists are the 13th least likely occupation to end in divorce among roughly 500 occupations. He found that roughly 22.5% of dentists who have been married at least once has ended in divorce. He also found that physicians and surgeons are just a hair better than dentists in keeping their marriage intact with roughly 21.8% of physicians and surgeons who have been married at least once has ended in divorce. Nathan observed that in general higher-salary professions tend to have lower divorce rates than lower-salary professions. Can Bad Dental Heath be Affecting your Marriage or Love Life?

It is no secret that poor dental health is a deal breaker when it comes to dating. Even those already in relationships could be affected if their dental health goes downhill. According to a survey conducted by Delta Dental Plans Association, 27% of women and 22% of men say they will break up with someone who doesn’t brush their teeth at least twice a day. Furthermore, 40% of women and 20% of men say they will break up with someone if they found out they are using their toothbrush. Even more telling is that 67% of women and 60% of men will break up with someone who has poor oral health hygiene. Four and half million settlement in wisdom teeth extraction death

The family of a 31 year old woman who died later on the same day after having wisdom teeth removed in September 2011 was awarded a $4.5 million settlement. The woman had her wisdom teeth removed at a hospital in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She presented for surgery after an infection in her lower left wisdom tooth. The woman had known issues, including a narrow airway due to a congenital vascular malformation on the right side of her mouth and both she and her father told doctors she could not be intubated for that reason. Depsite being provided this information the hospital staff did not note it in her her pre-operative file and made an initial incision that caused significant bleeding.
