American Health Care System

A BBC One’s Panorama, a TV documentary show, took on the dismal state of health care in the U.S. back in January 2009 (so it is a bit dated now).  Nick Cargo. The documentary takes on the (now) 50.7 million uninsured citizens and the length they will go for healthcare, the..”pharmaceutical industry’s rigged pricing against the American patient, and the insurance industry’s efforts to deny care whenever possible.”

Due to licensing restrictions the episode is only available for viewing by those who live in the U.K., however, it has been posted online. I have embedded the first of the three parts on YouTube below.

The documentary opens up in rural Kentucy and shows many who have driven long distances in the middle of the night who are trying to get care.

Stan Brock, founder of Remote Area Medical, says how he set up a charity to help people in the Amazon jungle says

“We discovered wow there are people here that need help just as much as they do in Guatemala or in the Amazon and all these other places we go to. So now 60% of what we do is right here in the United States. The need is enormous.”

It does not have to be this way in the United States. We can have a single-payer national health insurance such as that proposed by the Physicians for a National Health Program. http://www.pnhp.org/

Latest Happenings – Healthcare – McCain – Obama

I wanted to post about some of the recent developments and soon to be developments that are happening relating to the dental community and my website. I feel that there are some important issues currently occuring.

First off, I want to thank dk from PurposeInc.com for the Chiptole burrito coupon. I won a free burrito coupon from a contest he was running on his blog.

Next off the U.S. election is fast approaching. On Novemeber 4th, 2008 millions of Americans will vote for their next president. I recently wrote an article over on Associated Content discussing the issues faced by Americans with the recent government bailout and it’s impact on the health system. Further I addressed some of the issues regarding Obama and McCain and their plans for healthcare.

If you suffer from chronic health problems the best choice is to move to another country. Neither candidate has a health care plan that works. Both continue to use the same old policies that leave over 45 million Americans without health care. Therefore, TeethRemoval.com is not endorsing either candidate.

However, if you will be voting in the election and you are concerned about your health care the better choice is Barack Obama. McCain wants to radically change the current health care system. Even so, the best choice is to move to a different country that has a health care plan that doesn’t leave it’s citizens bankrupt and forced to wait until the problem is so bad that they can receive treatment at the Emergency Room.
