An interesting story is reported in WPDH about a woman who goes an online shopping spree after having her wisdom teeth removed. After the woman has her wisdom teeth removed and while still under the influence of anesthesia she goes on an online shopping spree.
As part of her shopping spree the woman buys 4 pairs of black pants. She also buys several shirts to go with the pants. She also spends $140 on a pair of tennis shoes. The woman also buys her daugher a jacket. Besides clothing apparel, the woman decides she needs some new items for her home. She spends on a new laundry basket, a large order of toilet bowl cleaner, and on some cat litter inserts.
The following days after having her wisdom teeth removed, the woman has no recollection of going on this online shopping spree. She is shocked when she receives numerous alerts on her phone about her deliveries and her doorbell rings numerous times. At first the woman starts to dig through her online accounts to look at what orders she had placed but then she decides she wants to be surprised so just waits to see what happens.
The woman is most shocked with the bill on her credit card for all these purchases she can’t remember making right after her wisdom teeth surgery. Thankfully, she is able to return any of these items she decides she does not want and get her money back. The woman suggests that anyone getting wisdom teeth surgery disconnects their credit card from any shopping apps or accounts they may have connected. Not having the credit card already saved may help prevent any such spending sprees.
It seems that one could also offer further suggestions to help curb this behavior. If one lives with their parents they can give any credit cards to their parents to hang onto for a few days while they recover from the surgery. If one is on their own, perhaps a signficiant other or a good friend could help pay this role to hang on to their credit cards. One could also take steps to keep their phone and computer away from them for a time being while they recover such as letting someone else hide it for a few days somewhere in their residence.
Lots of people after wisdom teeth surgery like to make funny videos to share on social media accounts or other websites, see for example the post Woman wins $10,000 for funny video after wisdom teeth surgery. Not too many stories have surfaced of going on a big spending spree online. It is not clear what dosage of medication the woman was given during her surgery. It would seem that other types of surgery where anestehsia is involved could potentially also have this problem. It is not clear if the woman suffered from any spending addiction that may have contributed to this spending spree occuring.
