Recently, a young woman received viral attention through some TikTok videos she shared about her wisdom teeth surgery. The woman is a big fan of the singer Taylor Swift and was shocked when she found out right after having her wisdom teeth extracted that her oral surgeon does not like Taylor’s music. That text that overlays the video that has since gathered over 3.5 Million views says “me still defending taylor swift w/ my life after getting my wisdom teeth out.”
In the video that was shared the young woman is sitting in a dental chair with a wrap around her jaw and appears to be under the affects of anesthesia. She asks her oral surgeon if he played any Taylor Swift during the surgery. The surgeon says “Absolutely not.” A look of horror than appears to cross the woman’s face. She then asks him if he likes Jake Gyllenhaal who is Taylor Swift’s ex boyfriend that has recently received some media attention due to the re-release of the album “Red” by Taylor Swift. The surgeon says “No.” The woman says to this “Okay, good.” The woman then asks if he likes Taylor Swift again and he says “No.” The woman than says “I can’t believe I let you perform on me.” The surgeon later tries to look inside the woman’s mouth and she doesn’t let him and says “You don’t like Taylor Swift, don’t touch me.” She then tries to play Taylor Swift on her phone to change the surgeon’s mind about Taylor Swift.

Many who watched the video commented and came to Taylor Swift’s defense. They were skeptical of the way the surgeon reacted and appreciate her for defending Taylor. The woman also shared another video on TikTok of the wisdom teeth surgery to show more in general how the surgery went. In the video she is shown in the car on the way home after the procedure. She is also shown asking for chapstick while in the dental chair.

Listening to music while after wisdom teeth extracted while in the dental chair has actually been shown to have positive benefits. This has been covered in the article discussed in the post Listening to Music During Wisdom Teeth Removal. However, that study used the classical music of Rachmaninov and showed that sympathetic nervous activity was suppressed.
